<p>1471640 Recovering lead A M LINIGER 30 Dec 1975 [8 Jan 1975] 53203/75 Heading C7D Lead is recovered from lead sludge obtained from the active material in lead batteries by drying the sludge e.g. at 100-150‹C to remove all the water therefrom, grinding the dried sludge to the particle: size of the original active material, intimately mixing the ground dried sludge with anhydrous carbon powder, e.g. cake, and known additives e.g. mill scale, quartz sand, lime sand or fluorite, heating in a closed furnace e.g. an electric furnace, to reduce the ground dried sludge to metallic lead and cooling, filtering and removing SO 2 from the gaseous reaction products. The gaseous products may be filtered using cloth filters and the SO 2 removed by compressing and cooling the gaseous products to liquify the SO 2 .</p> |
