<p>1422839 Nuclear reactors SIEMENS AG 13 Dec 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 57878/73 Heading G6C A nuclear reactor installation including a reactor pressure vessel 1 having a separable cover la, comprises a concrete structure surrounding the vessel, the structure being constituted, in the region of the cover la, by a number of segments 9 which abut supports 8 bearing on the cover la through the agency of an annular member 7. Each segment 9, which is L-shaped in a vertical plane along its radius, is supported on the upper edge 3 of the reactor pit 2 which, together with floor portions 4, 5 and an outer cylindrical portion 6, forms a rigid part of the concrete structure. At its outer region, remote from the edge 3, each segment 9 abuts the portion 6 at a joint 10 which permits the segment to pivot leading to opening of the joint at edge 3. Each of the four segments 9 (which are arranged in pairs on opposite sides of the vessel 1) is penetrated by a vertical column 13 rigidly connected to the concrete structure forming pit 2; the columns 13 carry beams 12 for supporting ancillary equipment such as a fuelling machine. Apertures in the segments 9 are provided to accommodate steam generators 15 each of which has explosion-proof, segmental shielding surrounding it; the shielding 20 above the segments is tied to the segments by cables and steel caps 21, while the shielding 22 below the segments is surrounded by prestressing cables 16. Coolant circulating pumps 14 are disposed beneath the segments 9. An explosionproof shield 18 is provided around the main coolant duct leading to a steam generator 15, in the arrangement shown at the right hand side of Fig. 2. An abutment 19 limits movement of the steam generator in the event of fracture of a main coolant conduit. In an alternative arrangement shown at the lefthand side of Fig. 2, the conduit is arranged in a separate chamber below the steam generator and includes the shield 18. The chamber may be provided by a bore 17 in the floor 4.</p> |
