Inter-rivetting of metal sheets, entails driving of rivets through the sheets onto a female matrix and the rivet hose expands radially to secure the connection. The matrix design permits its removal after nose expansion, and the process reduces prior multi-stage operations into a single operation. Rivet shafts effectively punch the rivet holes, nose enlargement is contrived by pressure against an anvil and an enlarged female matrix permits its abstraction. Pref. a matrix displacement occuring after a rivet traverses the sheets clamps the sheets against the rivet head, whence the rivet nose is expanded radially by continuing press. against the anvil, and the matris, by virtue of its enlargement is finally removed.
|
