Plates of more than 20 mm. thickness are longitudinally divided or trimmed by a pair of disc cutters at least one of which has a blade surface extending generally radially inwardly from the cutting edge on the side adjacent the other blade which is inclined at an angle of between 2 and 20 degrees to the longitudinal plane perpendicular to the upper and lower surfaces of the plate.
