The control circuit, for a triac switch typically for one which switches a heating element on and off, has an RC circuit between the triggering circuit and the triac gate to make the actual turn-on pulses applied to the triac independent of the duration of the pulses leaving the triggering circuit. The RC circuit consists of a first transistor coupled by its collector to the triac gate and over a series timing resistor and capacitor to the base of a complementary second transistor. The second transistor is driven into saturation by the triggering circuit and in turn causes the first transistor to turn on after the time determined by the RC circuit has elapsed.
|
