<p>The hollow cathode electron tube is intended for application in the atom absorption spectrophotometry or as a light source for a spectrograph. It has a hermetically sealed tube vessel containing an anode and a hollow cathode, secured in the vessel with a mutual spacing. The anode and cathode leads are brought through the vessel wall. The hollow cathode (3) has a light emitting slit (16). Preferably it has a rectangular aperture (14) in addition to its open end formed by the slit. The aperture may have a tapering triangular cross section. If the cathode is cylindrical the aperture extends in the axial direction and the slit is transverse to the cathode axis.</p> |
