<p>A sealing device for a large calibre arm has a sealing ring, already under tension before firing, acting between the rear end of the barrel and the breech block. The ring is accommodated in a recess in the breech block, and is thrust axially by an actuator inside the block against the barrel rear end face. There can be an intermediate ring in contact with the sealing ring, and thrust axially in guide grooves in the block by the actuator. The intermediate ring can be a nut actuated by a threaded rotary boss fitting in it. The boss has a flange resting on a supporting surface at the base of the breech block.</p> |
