<p>The reel is mounted on a lorry platform or towing vehicle, and can be fitted with a steel cable or a strong wound belt. A drum (2) is mounted on a support (1) with a ratchet wheel and locking pawl. The drum (2) has holes which engage a fixed bar to lock the drum and maintain belt tension. A spiral spring (18) winds the belt onto the drum (16) which has a central slot for hooking the belt. The rotation is transmitted to the support drum (1) by the spring (18). The belt is unwound by pulling it over a stirrup (8) attached to the inner drum (2). This opposes the wound spring tension, disengaging the pawl (23) from the ratchet wheel (22).</p> |
