A double shaft bearing (26,28) supports the pump shaft (12) extending from the pump body (10) and contains oil in a cavity (60) for normal lubrication of the bearings. Between the bearing housing (20) and the pump body, the shaft passes through another chamber (66) which communicates with the atmosphere through two large mesh (70) covered ports (68). Mounted on the shaft in this chamber and with its back-plate close to the first bearing (26) is a radial fan rotor (76). The rotor is made in two halves, bolted together for ease of assembly and access to the bearing seals. As the shaft rotates, the rotor causes air to circulate in the chamber (66) and form a thermal barrier. |
