The motorcycle drive wheel is coupled to the transmission by interdigitated flange wheels, with radial ribs set in an interlocking pattern, and braced by elastic pad inserts. These dampen out torque vibrations to protect the transmission, especially when light alloy wheels are used instead of spoked ones. To increase the damping effect, without increasing the diameter of the damping discs, the pads are arranged symmetrically to the ribs, with the largest pad thickness in the drive direction. This optimises the pad damping and enables more ribs to be used, without increasing the diameter of the pads.
|
