The power on-load circuit breaker is intended for medium or high voltage. The interrupting systems of all poles are included in a single quenching chamber housing, hermetically sealed and filled with an insulating gas, such as sulphur hexafluoride. The housing consists of two half-shells (1, 2), one of which carries pressure- and gas-tight bushings for moving contact (3). The other half-shell (2) carries stationary countercontacts (7) cooperating with the moving contacts in the other half (1). Preferably the housing is cylindrical with rounded front faces. The dividing plane (11) is so located that the half-shells are symmetrical. The edge flanges (12) of the half-shells abut each other and are ultrasonically welded or adhered.
