<p>The head is mounted on a stand such that it can be positioned over the body of a patient the display etc. eqpt. producing a spatial image of the gamma emissive isotopes in patient's organs. The head consists of the following (in order) a collimator (lead sheet grill) an Al window (opaque to all but gamma rays) a scintillation crystal plate, a glass optical window, a polished Plexiglass (RTM) optical guide plate with upper and lower masking patters of reflective film material and a set of e.g. nineteen image intensifier pick up tubes connected electrically to the recording and display units. The mesh patterns are used to sharpen up the images transferred from the scintillator to the pick up tubes i.e. improve resolution.</p> |
