The movement of the magnet armature (3) is transferred by a centre pivoted lever (14) to the polishing plate (13), so that the vibrating movement of the armature is in the opposite phase to that of the polishing plate and the inertia forces of these parts are cancelled out. The top part of the level and the armature are shaped so that armature and magnet cannot touch one another. The noise level of the polisher is thereby greatly reduced. This level can be further reduced if the oscillating lever is made from a plastic material. A spring (16) is mounted in the assembly which takes up the play between parts and reduces wear.
