Friction drive for elastic conveyor belt - has two endless tracks and hinged pressure plates with low specific belt loading

The conveyor belt (1) is made from rubber or cloth, and is driven by two endless friction tracks (2, 3) which clamp the belt (1) between them. The friction track consists of pressure plates which are joined by hinge links. Two parallel clamp frames (12, 13) support a number of pressure rollers (10). The rollers transmit the applied friction load to the pressure plates (4) which are in contact with the conveyor belt (1). Since the driving force is applied to a large area of the conveyor belt, the resulting low specified load does not damage the elastic belt material.
