1526742 Exercising apparatus R SCHONENBERGER 16 Sept 1975 [11 Oct 1974] 37984/75 Heading A6M Exercising apparatus comprises a frame structure 2, a movable support surface 1 formed by a plurality of slats 4 secured to an endless flexible belt means 5 engaging drums 10, a plurality of back up support rollers 12 located beneath an upper run of the movable surface 1 and at least one elastic cushion support located between the support rollers and the bottom surfaces of the slats. In the embodiment shown one drum 10 is driven by motor 33, the slats 4 have tongues 38 secured to belts 5 having teeth 7 for slipless engagement with drum 10 and the elastic cushion support is provided by a support belt 13 between the rollers-12 and the slats 4. Preferably their is a small clearance e.g. ¢ cm. between the upper surface of the belt 13 and the bottom of slats 4 when the slats are unloaded and the slats may be provided with flexible cover material on there top surface. The support rollers may be adjustable in position and the belt 13 can be of V cross section (Fig. 7, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the cushioning is provided on the under surface of the slats and the rollers are so dimensioned and spaced that at least two support rollers are in engagement with each slat at any time. In a further embodiment (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown) a single central belt is used the slats being connected thereto by transverse webs (8). In another embodiment (Fig. 10, not shown) the cushioning is provided as an extension of the width of the belts 5. |
