<p>Underpants with crotch sections, or similar garments, are mfd. where the basic fabric is drawn from a roll and cut into sections. The crotch band is delivered at right angles to the direction of fabric travel, drawn from its supply roll, and fed under the cut fabric. Both the edges of the crotch band are stitched to the fabric section. The separate sections are divided from each other and fed to a workpiece holder which is shaped to allow surplus fabric to be trimmed off, giving the fabric its required contours, the sewing machine seaming the edges as well as trimming the material. The fabric is then folded over to give the garment shape, for the sides to be sewn together giving the finished underpants. The system gives a fully automatic process for manufacturing finished garments for rolls of fabric, eliminating manual stacking, sorting or alignment.</p> |
