An electro resectoscope for use in operations involving body cavities, in partic. urethral and bladder operations, has a diathermic loop which has a diathermic electrode mounted in a length adjustable manner within a seal or gasket, and has the diathermic loop bent in a plane which is orientated parallel to the axis of the shaft section (2) of the electroresectoscope. The diathermic loop can be rotated about an axis which runs parallel to the shaft (2) axis by means of an electric motor, the rotational velocity of which can be varied.
