<p>Process for treating aq. or lipid-soluble extracts obtd. by vacuum vapour extn. of powdered biological tissue (pref. with H2SO4, HOAc, HCOOH or Et2NH), comprises fractionating the extracts by known methods to isolate fractions with different mol. wts., sizes or configurations. The starting material is pref. an extract of the isolated maternal or foetal part of the placenta ndecidua, chorion or trophoblast). Fractionation can be effected by sedimentation, chromatography, electrophoresis, or mol. sieve or ion-exchanger treatment, or a combination thereof. Process can be used to increase the biological and therapeutic activity of the extracts (esp. placental extracts) by eliminating inhibitory factors or enriching the active components.</p> |
