The arrangement is esp. used for the polishing of plastic sheets for aircraft windows. It consists of a clamping arrangement (5) for the workpiece and a polishing arrangement (2) with a drive mounted above the clamp. The clamp can be moved in two directions parallel to the plane of the polishing disc. The polishing arrangement consists of a telescopic rod (29, 32) supported at its centre by a spherical support bearing (27, 28). The upper end of the rod is swung by a drive arrangement (20 to 25) over an oval path, so that the lower end on which the polishing plate is mounted is also moved over the oval path.
