An improved process for the hydrochlorination of vinyltrichlorosilane to prepare beta -chloroethyltrichlorosilane, which hydrochlorination is carried out by reacting the vinyltrichlorosilane with HCl in the presence of a Lewis catalyst, the improvement lying in carrying out the reaction at a temperature between 30 DEG and 65 DEG C, preferably at normal pressure. |
