Surfact active compsn. (A) contg. an aq. soln. of an alkali-, NH4- and/or Mg salt of lauryl sulphate, also contains a mono-n-butyl ether (I) of ethylene glycol. (A) are used in latex compsns. esp. for applying backings to tufted carpets, partic. for double-backed carpets. Addn. of (I) allows storage and handling of (A) at lower temps. and is linked with synergistic effects whereby smaller quantities of lauryl sulphate can be used for the same surface activity, esp. in foaming, and reduces quantity of thickener reqd. |
