On motors where the periphery of the external rotor forms the power take off the diameter dictated by the motor parameters is not always well matched to the requirements of the driven part. This diffulty is overcome by extending the active rotor (13) by a tube (2) coaxial with the stationary shaft (1) of the motor and supported on it by bearings (3). The motor may be of several types, for example brushless d.c., asynchronous, or hysteresis. A d.c. motor may have permanent magnets (7) inside a hub (6) coupled solidly by an adaptor (5) to the drive output (2). The internal stator winding and core (4) is mounted on the stationary shaft (1). The application is typically to high speed drives with low radial loads as used in the textile spinning industry.
|
