The lighting fitting for use in a garden radiates light to all sides laterally. The cylindrical transparent lighting fitting cover accommodates a light source. The top is covered by a nontransparent cap. The outside face of the enclosing tube (15) has circumferential saw tooth shaped ribs arranged at uniform spacing. The underside of each rib is flat and horizontal. The upper face slopes and forms a truncated conical surface. The light source (9) is placed in the region of the top rib or above the top rib. The inside surface of the enclosing cylinder is made matt for diffused radiation of light.
