An electronic water or spirit level is developed for use over long distances in the open air for fixing the location of remote points. An adjustable scale ring has a pendulum counterweight and electrical contacts arranged so that the position of the adjustable level is displayed using acoustic or optical signals. The level has additional telescope (2), tape measure, and tripod stand (6) with a level (9) and adjustment scale (10). The telescope is mounted in slots (3) on the level housing (1), and the level may be detached from the tripod stand which has a universal joint (7) for orientation adjustment.
