<p>The novel recognins astrocytine (I) and malignin (II) are prepd. as follows: (a) (I) is obtained by extracting disintegrated cerebral glioma tissue with a neutral buffer, separating dissolved proteins with a pK range of 1-4 from the extract, and isolating a product with a mol. wt of ,000 from the proteins; (b) (II) is obtained by growing artificial cancer cells in a fermentation culture, extracting the disintegrated cells with a neutral buffer, separating dissolved proteins with a pK range of 1-4 from the extract, and isolating a product with a mol. wt. of 10, 0000 from the proteins. (I) and (II) can be used to produce anti-recognin anti-bodies, "target reagents" (i.e. complexes of the recognins with a carrier), and "target-attaching globulins" (i.e. products obtained by contact of a target reagent with a biological fluid followed by acid cleavage). These products can be used for diagnostic purposes, e.g. for selective staining or radioactive tracing of tumours, and for the treatment and prophylaxis of cancer.</p> |
