1466672 Folding collapsible tray blanks MASSON SCOTT THRISSELL ENG Ltd 2 May 1974 [4 May 1973] 21443/73 Heading B5D An apparatus for folding a blank, Fig. 3, comprises a conveyer for moving the blank past rotatable folding blades 40, 60 which co-operate with respective rotatable folding bars 42, 61 to fold the trailing flaps 3, 11, 13 about fold line 5, and pivoted fingers 47, 65 having hooked blank engaging ends for folding the leading flaps 2, 10, 12 about fold line 4. The movement of each finger 47, 65 is limited by stops 49, 51, against a lower one of which the finger is spring biased. The speed of rotation of the folding blades and bars 40, 60, 42, 61 varies cyclically. The folded trailing flaps 3, 11, 13 are held down during the folding of the leading flaps 2, 10, 12 by rotatable bars 54, 69 similar to the folding bars 42, 61. The creases of trailing triangular tabs 3a are broken by rotatable arms 34, 35. The tabs 3a and further triangular tabs 2a are folded by engagement with ploughs during the folding of the associated flaps 3 and 2. Glue is applied to the folded flaps 10 to 13 by an applicator 68 prior to lateral side flaps 6 and 7 being ploughed over on to the glued flaps. |
