The sealing arrangement for rotary piston engines is for engines with a cylindrical eccentric rotor (1) oscillating in a working chamber with a rectangular chamber partitioning bar (5) over which it slides. An axial recess in the rotor accommodates the bar. The recess (6) is trapezoidal in this design. Near its open end are inclined slots (9 , 10) in which slide strips (11, 12) springs (21) housed in evenly spaceds slots extensions (20) press the strips against the sides of the bar to provide sealing. The angle between the inclined-slot and main recess (6) centerlines is 55 deg.. The ends of the sealing strips in contact with the bar are cut to an obtuse angle with its apex near the centreline, to ensure line contact regardless of wear. Strips and bar are made of different hardness materials. |
