A metal rod(18) is fixed at one end(16) to the end(12) of the machine frame(10). At the other end it is linked by a bearing(20) to a rod(22) which is pivoted at one end(24) and free to rotate in a circle at the other. The first rod is enclosed in an insulated jacket(34) through which fluid is passed. The resulting expansion and contraction produces movement of the free end(20) which rotates the second rod(22). The actuator can be used to set a flow regulating valve in e.g. a swimming pool, or a fuel supply valve for an oven or furnace. |
