A class of organic pigments having the formula <IMAGE> wherein X consists of the atoms necessary to complete a naphthalene, anthracene, or <IMAGE> ring; R1, R2, and R3 are hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy, NO2, alkyl, SO3H or alkali metal salts thereof, <IMAGE> and COOH or alkali metal salts thereof, and R2 and R3 can comprise the atoms necessary to complete a phenyl, naphthyl or anthryl ring; and R is selected from the group consisting of <IMAGE> where M is alkyl, alkali or alkaline earth metal are useful as sensitizers for photoconductive compositions in electrophotographic processes.
