<p>1526200 Cationic azo dyestuffs derived from triazoles and tetrahydroquinolines IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Nov 1975 [11 Dec 1974] 53548/74 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs devoid of carboxylic and sulphonic acid groups have the formula wherein A is the radical of a quaternized triazole; R<SP>3</SP> is a non-ionogenic substituent; n is 0, 1, 2 or 3; R<SP>4</SP> is branched alkyl, alkenyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, alkyl-carbonyloxyalkyl, hydroxyalkyl of at least 3 C, alkoxyalkyl of at least 5 C, alkoxy (hydroxy) alkyl, alkylcarbonylalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl or aralkoxycarbonylalkyl; and X is an anion. They are prepared by quaternization of dyestuffs of the above formula but lacking the charge and the anion in which A is the radical of a triazole having at least one unsubstituted nitrogen atom, which in turn are prepared by conventional diazotization and coupling procedures. The novel dyestuffs have use in the colouration of polymers and copolymers of acrylonitrile and dicyanoethylene and acid modified polyesters and polyamides.
