<p>1509606 Making pneumatic tyres INDUSTRIE PIRELLI 9 July 1975 [19 July 1974] 28813/75 Heading B7C A method of making a pneumatic tyre comprises building up a radial carcass in cylindrical form on an expansible building drum (Fig. 1, not shown); shaping the carcass into a first toroidal configuration and applying on the so shaped carcass 1 two or more breaker plies 5, 6 of metal cords-Fig. 2; further shaping the carcass with the applied metal cord plies into a second toroidal configuration in which the outer circumference of the carcass 1 at its equator is greater than that in the first toroidal configuration ; applying on the carcass in its second toroidal configuration and on the metal cord plies a further breaker ply 7 or plies of circumferentially arranged cords of a textile material, e.g. nylon, which reduces in length under the action of heat and also applying a tread band 8-Fig. 3; and curing the carcass in a mould under internal pressure.</p> |
