The sleeping bag has a waterproof external lining and a hood which can be deployed to cover the occupants head. The bag may thus be used in the open air. The hood is formed by a rectangular extension (3) of the bottom leaf of the bag. The extension is provided at the head of the bag, and the hood is formed by folding the corners diagonally inward. The abutting edges of the thus formed triangular flaps (2a2b) are connected by a sliding clasp fastener (3 to 7). The complementary halves (3,4) of the fastener are fixed in opposition on the resp. halves of the transverse edge of the unfolded leaf extension (2).
