<p>The play-back arm (51), for a video disc player, carries a needle at one end and is fixed at the other end to a mounting plate (54) via a mounting element (53). The mounting plate (54) for the arm (51) is carried by a flexible diaphragm, or two flexible bands (57, 58), so that the arm (51) can be retracted within a protective housing when not in use, without the mounting element (53) being constrained. Pref. the two flexible bands (57, 58), via which the mounting plate (54) is suspended, run across the full width of the latter adjacent its top and bottom edges, to allow the mounting plate (54) to tip angulary when the arm (51) is retracted.</p> |
