<p>Thermal stabiliser for (co)PVC comprises a mixt. of the usual carboxylate salts (I) of divalent metals and -diketones or -ketoaldehyde (II) of formula: R1-CO-cHR2-CO-R3 (in which R1 and R2 indep. are linear or branched alk(en)yl gps. with max. 30C, aralkyl gps. with 7-36C, aryl or cycloaliphatic gps. with less than 14C, opt. contg. C=C double bonds, opt. substd. by halogen or, in the case of the aryl or cycloaliphatic gpd., by Me or Et and opt. modified with -O-, -CO-O- and/or -CO- gp(s). In the aliphatic chain: R1 and R3 together can also be 2-5C alkylene, opt. contg. O or N; R1 or R3 can also be H; there is no ethylenic or aromatic unsatd. bond or carbonyl linkage on the C atom of R1 and R3 bound to the carbonyl gp.; R2 is H, an alk(en)yl gp. with max. 30C, opt. modified by -O-, -CO-O- or -CO- in the chain, or a -CO-R4 gp.; R4 is 1-30C alkyl or aryl, if neither R1 nor R3 is aromatic, or a gp. of the formula: R5 is 1-6C alkylene). These are used in amt. of 0.1-5wt.% (I) and 0.05-5, pref. 0.1-1wt.% (II) w.r.t. the polymer. Used for the stabilisation of various types of (co)PVC during moulding and elevated temp. applications.</p> |
