The back of the brake piston (1) in the master cylinder is fitted with a chamber (4) filled with brake fluid at atmospheric pressure. A side duct (5) leads to a top-up reservoir (6) via control piston (2) normally in the open flow setting. When the antiskid control operates, a solenoid (9) pushes the control piston downwards, isolating the chamber from the reservoir and pressurising the chamber. This relieves the brake pressure by providing a backing pressure to the master brake piston. The valve operates efficiently, with an automatic top-up from the reservoir. The control piston is hollow and has a ring shaped duct near the top, to provide the through flow position when the solenoid is off.
|
