1470617 Polyester resin compositions; colour stabilizer HOECHST AG 21 Jan 1975 [24 Jan 1974] 2647/75 Heading C3P A polyester resin moulding or coating composition comprises (a) an ethylenically unsaturated polyester, (b) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith, (c) a polymerization inhibitor, (d) a hydroperoxide polymerization inhibitor, (e) a cobalt compound as accelerator and (f) a colour stabilizer comprising but-1-ene-3,4,diol. Polymerization promoters and auxiliaries and/or additives may also be present. In the examples polyester resins prepared from various mixtures of maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, adipic acid, fumaric acid, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, 1,2-propanediol, diethylene glycol and pentaerythritol triallyl ether, are copolymerized with styrene using as additives acetoacetic acid, ethyl ester, cobalt octoate as well as the but-1-ene-3,4 diol. The but-1-ene-3,4 diol is found to reduce the gelling time of the resin composition. |
