Lip seal for unglazed stoneware pipes - has square section seal with inwards extending web terminating in double lip

The lip seal is intended for sealing the joint between successive lengths of stoneware, concrete, or asbestos pipes. the seal has a ring of square cross-section which fits in the recess in the end of the pipe (9). A web (4) extends radially inwards and terminates in a double lip (5, 6). The lip form a seal on the outer surface of the inner pipe. The lip (6) forms a seal on the edge of the groove (11) formed in the enlarged bore of the mating pipe (9). This design of seal can accommodate wide tolerances in the dimensions of the pipes to be joined anf at the same time only a small force is needed to fit it.
