Rock cutting cable saw - has groups of cutting and spacer discs mounted on sheaths on flexible cable

The rock-cutting saw for mineral excavation has a solid flexible metal cable which has a series of cutting diamond fragments or cubic boron nitride attached to it by powder metallurgy or electroplating. The cutting elements (1) are in the form of rows of stamped discs (4) which have a layer of cutting diamonds on their peripheral surfaces. The cutting discs (4) are separated by means of spacer discs (5), and all the discs are removably mounted on a sheath (3), which can itself be removed from the cable (2). Flexible steel springs (8) are slotted on the cable between groups of discs, and nuts (6, 7) are screw onto the sleeve ends to clamp the discs together.
