The push valve for a discharge head has a pad insert with a valve sealing seat for use with a carbon dioxide valve. A riser tube provides the valve seat mounting, with a spring tensioning system. The spiral spring which surrounds the riser pipe (4) is in the fo of a tension or extension type spring (12). This spring (12) is tensioned between the spring anchorage (13) in the pad insert (1) and a spring mounting (14) on the riser rube (4) itself. The seat is arranged to be resistant against the corrosive elements present in the gas.
