PURPOSE: To improve load support capacity of a cam follower assembly by holding a pinless roller to get in rolling contact with a surface of a cam in a cam follower link for extending width of the roller. CONSTITUTION: In a cam follower assembly 18, a cam follower link 20 is supported by a pivot 22 at a first end part 35, and a pinless roller 24 is held in a semi-cylindrical cut 42 in a second end part 36. As the roller 24 gets in rolling contact with a surface of a cam 10, the cam follower link 20 is oscillated to reciprocate a push rod 26. For an axial end wall 44 of the cam follower link 20, only thickness necessary to restrain axial motion of the roller 24 is required, so width of the roller 24 can be extended without increasing width of the cam follower link 20. A weight support capacity of the cam follower assembly can thus be improved without increasing a width size. |
