The switch is intended for protection of a gear for apparatus against unauthorized handling. It contains a magnetic switch (1) inside the gear housing directly on the inner housing wall (2). The latter is of magnetically non-conductive material, at least in the region of the magnetic switch. The latter is actuated by a magnet (3, 4) which can be applied to the housing wall from outside. Preferably the switch position is not marked on the outer housing wall, and contains several magnetically actuated contacts in a preset spatial arrangement. A given magnetic polarity and/or field strength may be required for actuating the individual contact. Typically a permanent magnet is used for the switch actuation.
