Mfr of composite elements suitable for use as ceilings, walls, or partitions, comprises fastening a top and a bottom lamina at a frame and inserting between these a perforated, foam-permeable, inset which may opt. have supports. The two resulting spaces defined by the outer laminae and the inset, and then filled with foam. One of these spaces is filled with a granulate. Into the other space, an expansible, reaction mixt. is introduced which is then foamed, whilst at the same time penetrating through the perforated, foam permeable, inset and so filling the interstice between the granules in the 1st space. Used as light-wt. building components having good acoustic and thermal insulating characteristics. The prods. are relatively easy and inexpensive to mfr. Their final specification (e.g. thickness) is readily adaptable to usage conditions and intended final performance characteristics.
