The wall anchor pin is held in a hole by mortar, and the projecting end has an external thread. The pin is in two parts, the outer threaded connection end (4), and the inner wall gripping shank (5). The anchor pin is cylindrical with a smooth surface (6), of diameter equal to the root diameter of the threaded end. The insertion tip is bevelled steeply, or even conical. The hole diameter is greater than the shank dia., and the annular clearance is filled with mortar. The ultimate load capacity is that of the threaded section, and not determined by the shank bond strength.
