<p>1470046 Separating cobalt and nickel METALLURGIE HOBOKEN-OVERPELT 23 Feb 1976 06995/76 Heading C1A Cobalt is selectively extracted from an aqueous solution of pH 1-6 also containing nickel, by use of a liquid comprising, by volume, 65- 98% of a concentrated organic solvent solution of a compound RR<SP>11</SP>C(OH).CR<SP>1</SP>(=NOH) where R and R<SP>1</SP> are hydrocarbon radicals and R<SP>11</SP> is H or hydrocarbon; 2-35% of a compound (R 1 O) 2 PO(OH) where R 1 is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; and 0-33% of an inert water immiscible organic diluent, e.g. an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon or trichlorethylene. An emulsion inhibitor, e.g. isodecanol, may be present. The Co may be re-extracted with 1À6N-aqueous acid, e.g. HCl or H 2 SO 4 ; any Ni co-extracted into the organic liquid may then be re-extracted with aqueous acid of strength greater than 6À9N.</p> |
