<p>A hollow core assembly is mounted at the centre, and a blood inlet passage extends axially upwards to the inside of the core. A semipermeable tubular membrane is secured near one end of the core, communicating with the inlet passage, and a supporting component in contact with the membrane is wound round the core with it. The other end of the membrane is coupled by a connector to an outlet passage for the blood extending axially upwards. The assembly of core, membrane, supporting component and connector is accommodated in a casing, which has a lower cap forming a central outlet for the dialysis solution and in line with the core. The solution inlet is offset from the outlet and in line with the supporting component and membrane wound round the core. Near the top end, the fluid flows between the top of the membrane, the component and the top of the core, so as to form a path for the solution upwards from the inlet, through membrane and component, to the core top.</p> |
