<p>1378772 Cassette video recorder/player RCA CORPORATION 10 March 1972 [16 March 1971] 6969/71 Heading G5R In a cassette helical-scan video recorder/ player, the cassette 6 is movable along guides 64 to an operative position in which an arcuate tape guide 8 enters the cassette 6 between top and bottom walls 104, 106 thereof, the guide 8 having a diagonal slot 10 for rotating heads 36. The guide 8 is a segment or a sector of a cylinder and projects from a support 24 of U-shaped section. Capstans 42, 44 are mounted in the support 24 and are driven at slightly different speeds to tension the tape 4. The cassette 6 has pinch rollers or pads 98 and a hinged front wall 102 which is raised by a member 112 engaging a groove (114), Fig. 2 (not shown), therein as the cassette 6 is advanced. The cassette 6 is mounted on a frame 72 guided in the guides 64 and having motors 80, 82 driving coplanar tape reels 94, 96. A stationary transducer 15 may be mounted on the guide 8. The axis of the guide 8 may be normal to the tape centre-line, Fig. 5 (not shown), or may be parallel to the axis of the disc 26 supporting the transducers 36, Fig. 6 (not shown). In the latter case the cassette includes inclined, resiliently-mounted guides (146), Fig. 7 (not shown), co-operable with locating members (148), Fig. 8 (not shown), on the guide 8.</p> |
