1422873 Heating sensitizing polymer dispersions for coagulation BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 29 May 1973 [30 May 1972 29 Dec 1972 10 Feb 1973] 25361/73 Heading C3P Anionic or non-ionic aqueous polymer dispersions are heat sensitized, to render them coagulatable by heating, by adding thereto an oxyalkylated amine having inverse water solubility, and adjusting the pH of the mixture to below 6, if it is not already below 6. The original amine may have 1-10 carbon atoms and may be a polyfunctional straight chain aliphatic amine optionally containing one or more hydroxy groups in addition to the one or more amine groups and may be oxalkylated with, for example, ethylene and/or propylene oxide. In the examples, a wide variety of polymer dispersions are mixed with sensitizers selected from reaction products of the following substances: propylene oxide/ethylene oxide/ ethylene diamine; propylene oxide/ethylene oxide/diethylene triamine; propylene oxide/ ethylene oxide/dipropylene triamine; propylene oxide/ethylene oxide/triethylene tetramine; propylene oxide/ethylene oxide/tetraethylene pentamine; propylene oxide/triethanolamine; and propylene oxide/ethylene diamine. The dispersions may be used to bind non-woven webs of fibrous materials, after which they are coagulated in situ, and for coating paper and glass articles.
