PURPOSE:To achieve a linear modulator with little loss in a microwave signal, by using a PIN diode with high permissible input power as a modulator element and increasing an input to the modulator. CONSTITUTION:A microwave signal is inputted to an input terminal 1, passes through a coplanar line 3 and reaches an output terminal 2 via a slot line 4. PIN diodes 20 and 20' are located on the way of the slot line 4, and a modulation signal is applied to the diode 20 from a modulation signal terminal 30 and a fixed bias voltage is applied to the diode 20' from a fixed bias terminal 40. In modulation characteristics using the PIN diode in figure, a voltage to the fixed bias terminal 40 is selected to a voltage (c) corresponding to the leading of the modulation characteristics, a voltage to the modulation signal terminal 30 is a voltage (d) corresponding to a linear part of the modulation characteristics where a modulation signal is superimposed on a fixed bias voltage (c). |
