<p>The fire lighter has a metal handle (10) which passes through the centre of the lighter and is locked into position with split pins. The handle ends in a loop (12) so that the lighter may be hung up after use. The lighter consists of a refractory cylinder (14) with a central hole for the handle, and is used by soaking it for a few minutes in inflammable liquid material and igniting it in the hearth. The lighter may be used for igniting logs or large lumps of coal without having to restort to the use of paper or small firewood which may not be easily obtained.</p> |
