A three phase generator (1) has two windings, one (2) feeding a battery load (8), the other (3) supplying a load with current fluctuations, for example a motor (11), lighting, or similar equipments. A shunt connected field winding (6e, with voltage regulator (5) is connected to the first output winding (2). In order to compensate rapidly for load current fluctuations in the second winding (3) the current is measured by a single phase current transformer (12) with a full wave rectifier (13) across its secondary winding. This feeds a compounding winding (14). Response to a load change is much faster than would be the case if only the voltage regulator (5) were relied upon. The single phase derived current signal is assumed to give a sufficiently good representation of the three phase load which is in the main well balanced.
|
